What? You don’t believe?

I can guarantee that by the end of this post, you will believe that it is indeed a piece of cake.

Why Do You Need to Clean A Table Saw Blade?

It’s simple! You want better service from it; so, you have to take proper care of it. Cleaning is the most significant part of the use of a product because maintenance is an integral part of any device.

But specifically, in case of a saw blade, it is necessary to keep the blades clean in order to get good quality cuts as well as for safe use of the blade. Sometimes the blades get coated by pitch and resin due to the use of it without cleaning for a long period but no worries, a good wash is all you need!

What Do You Need to Clean A Table Saw Blade?

I mean, when you would come to know what you exactly need to clean a table saw blade, that’s exactly how you would feel: You need nothing!

Jokes apart, I am saying this because you generally have all the things at home that you need for the cleaning. Here is a list of all the things you normally require for giving your blades a good wash:

A pair of gloves: Well, it is my personal opinion that everything related to cleaning should be done by wearing a glove, for safety and as well as maintaining the hygiene. In this case, rubber gloves are recommended.

A container: This is for making the solution that you will be using to clean your saw blade. A flat shallow container will do the work.

Detergent: Yes, you read it right. Normal laundry detergent can do the trick for you. But if you want to do it the other way, there are enough cleaning sprays available in the market for you.

Water: Simple tap water will do.

A brush: The brush needs to be selected carefully because you want your blade to be cleaned properly. An old toothbrush can be used; we all have tooth brushes at home, don’t we? But again, if you want to do it the other way, a brass brush is recommended for you.

A clean towel: This towel is to dry the blade after the washing is done. It is very important to dry the blade.

Now you might understand why I said that you need nothing to clean your table saw blade.

The Process to Clean Your Table Saw Blade

The ways to clean a saw blade are very easy as I already said before. I’ll go step by step and explain every detail clearly.

Step 1: At first, wear the rubber gloves properly and then take out the blade carefully from the table saw. Wearing gloves is important to make sure that you don’t get any cuts while washing the saw blade.

Step 2: Now, take the flat shallow container and put your saw blade over it. But you can do that later also if you want to make the solution first.

Step 3: For making the solution, take a cup of laundry detergent and a cup of water in the flat container and stir properly. Make sure that the amount of water and detergent are equivalent to each other.

Step 4: Here in, the next step is to submerge the blade in the solution that you just made. Wait for five to ten minutes for the solution to do its magic.

Step 5: This is the important part. Rub the blade with the brush properly until it is totally clean and shiny!

Step 6: You don’t want your saw blade to get rusted, do you? So, finally, dry your saw blade with the towel precisely to make sure that the water is fully soaked from the metal blades. Water and metal don’t get along too well.

Lastly, put your saw blade back in the table saw and it is ready to use again!

Hopefully after all this, cleaning a table saw blade is surely a piece of cake!
