What does the GST calculator do?

This GST calculator adds GST to a price or takes it out of a price that already includes it, for supplies in India. For a supply within one state, GST is split equally into CGST and SGST (or UTGST in a Union Territory), and for a supply between states it is charged as IGST. Pick a preset rate or type any rate.

How to use the GST calculator

  1. Choose “Add GST” if your price excludes GST, or “Remove GST” if it already includes GST.
  2. Enter the amount. A decimal point or a decimal comma both work.
  3. Pick a rate or type your own, and choose whether the supply is within a state or between states.
  4. Read the price before GST, the CGST and SGST or IGST, and the total, with the working.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add GST to a price?

Multiply the price by the rate ÷ 100 to get the GST, then add it to the price. At 18%, ₹1,000 + ₹1,000 × 0.18 = ₹1,180.

How do I remove GST from a price that includes it?

Divide the price by (1 + rate ÷ 100). At 18%, ₹1,180 ÷ 1.18 = ₹1,000, so the GST is ₹180. Simply taking 18% off ₹1,180 gives the wrong answer (₹967.60).

When is GST split into CGST and SGST, and when is it IGST?

Broadly, a supply within one state carries CGST and SGST (or UTGST), each at half the rate, so 18% becomes 9% + 9%. A supply between states carries IGST at the full rate. The place-of-supply rules decide which applies, so check them if you are unsure.

Which GST rates are listed?

The presets are the rates in the GST rate schedules notified in September 2025 and in force from 22 September 2025: 5%, 18% and 40%, plus special rates of 0.25%, 1.5% and 3%. They were last checked against official sources in October 2026. Rates differ by item and change over time, so check the rate for your goods or services with CBIC or a tax professional. You can type any other rate.

Is this tax advice?

No. It is a general calculator. For the rate on a particular item, exemptions, input tax credit or invoicing rules, check CBIC guidance or ask a tax professional.
